In November 2020, Sébastien Roux released the vinyl LP Succession of Timbres With one Partial in Common, a composition that systematically expands upon a specific acoustic concept developed by Max Neuhaus.
Conceptual Foundation: The project is directly inspired by Neuhaus’s "succession of timbres" principle, specifically referenced in his drawings for the Southwest Stairwell works.
Roux originally presented this work in 2016 as part of Max Feed – Work and Heritage of Max Neuhaus, an exhibition at Frac Franche-Comté curated by Daniele Balit to honour Neuhaus's legacy.
Systematic Approach: While Neuhaus used these principles for site-specific installations, Roux pushed the concept into a "drastically systematic composition" where the basis for each new timbre is a single partial from the previous one.
