Toys
And it is like being catapulted into another century to haveall these dreams at fingertip. I think our real problem maybe we have too many toys to play with before getting the toy to work with such a job that we were really careful about what we built and it also it formed a shape. Now we have this cornucopia of goodies that in some cases take on a meaning of their own I mean they become or people treat them like works of art when they are really only the paint. But I think also this - the wonderful thing that happened is very high level of being able to shape and control sound is not any longer isolated in institutions it is- anybody can walk into a music store and buy a fairly complex of possibilities and this coupled with control languages like Max which is not named after me kind of take the top layer of software of this boxes and let s do something interesting with them. So this incredible democratization of access I think is the most positive thing we have the human speech is incredible inventive and the more hands we put the stuff in the more chance we have of having something interesting come out. But I think we are in a kind of strange stage at this point we are dazzled by all these toys and making a lot of noise
