Sigrid Grulke's book "SOUND ON DISPLAY: Sound Artifacts in Exhibitions" (published in 2023 by Büchner Verlag, based on her 2021 dissertation at Humboldt University of Berlin) examines how sound art can be presented and interpreted in exhibitions.
In her work, Grulke refers to various artists and case studies that deal with the representation and archiving of sound artifacts. Max Neuhaus is mentioned in this context as an artist whose works—such as Drive In Music (1968)—cannot simply be captured and archived using conventional recording systems, highlighting the challenge of exhibiting such works.
