Max Neuhaus, a significant percussionist and sound artist, was deeply inspired by Varèse's revolutionary approach to sound. Varèse's call for new instruments, exploration of noise, and conception of music as "organized sound" were foundational to Neuhaus's own artistic practice. Neuhaus worked with Varèse as a percussionist, performing his works like Déserts.
