A review of Max Neuhaus's sound installation "Water Whistle III" likely appeared in the Minneapolis Star in January 1972, coinciding with its exhibition at the Walker Art Center.

In the January 1972 issue of the Minneapolis Star, a review was published concerning Max Neuhaus's innovative sound installation, "Water Whistle III", which was hosted by the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis.

The Installation: Water Whistle III was part of a series where Neuhaus moved sound from the air into the water. Participants at the Walker Art Center were invited to immerse themselves (or at least their heads) in a pool to experience sounds that were physically felt through the water's density.
The review, appearing early in 1972, documented how Neuhaus was successfully challenging the traditional museum experience by replacing visual objects with invisible, spatial sound environments.
Institutional Support: The coverage highlighted the Walker Art Center's role as a major sponsor of avant-garde sound art, positioning Minneapolis as a key site for Neuhaus’s national tour of "underwater music".
