In her 1996 thesis Exposer le son, Nathalie Travers uses Max Neuhaus as a central case study to examine how sound can be treated as a sculptural, site-specific medium within an exhibition context. Under the direction of Jean-Marc Poinsot, Travers explores Neuhaus's transition from a percussionist to a "sound architect" who redefined the physical space of the museum and the city.
