The performance featured the renowned violinist Anahid Ajemian, for whom the work was specifically written.
Harrison's Concerto for the Violin with Percussion Orchestra (also titled in Esperanto as Koncerto por la violono kun percuta orkestra) is known for its use of "found objects" such as garbage cans, clock coils, and brake drums alongside standard percussion.
