1962
On August 15, 1962, Max Neuhaus was present in Germany during the lead-up to the historic Fluxus Festival (officially the Festum Fluxorum: International Festival of Newest Music), which took place in Wiesbaden in September 1962.
- A "Dadaist" Overlap: Although he was a virtuoso interpreter of Stockhausen and Boulez, Neuhaus began engaging with the "anti-music" sentiments of Fluxus. His later works, like the 1966 Listen walks, were deeply influenced by the Fluxus "event score" format, which focused on the act of perception rather than the production of sound.
